The IATP Food and Society Fellows convened in Washington, D.C. September 8-11 for a series of meetings with key policymakers, journalists and opinion leaders. Highlights of the week included a one hour discussion on food and farm policy with Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Kathleen Merrigan and a private tour of the White House vegetable Garden with White House Chef, Sam Kass. The week’s events culminated with “Fresh Ideas on Food Policy,” a reception at the Tabard Inn showcasing the individual and collective work of the fellows, including the premiere of two short videos on school nutrition.
